  September 2009 Gameday News

Sept. 27, 2008: (Exhibition) - The Huskies skated to a 3-2 shootout victory over Trinity Western. It was another close game. The Dawgs ended up scoring on two shootout attempts, while Trinity converted one of five chances. Now the coaches might have the toughest part - deciding who makes the final roster at this point. The team continue to prepare for the regular season opener in Cheney against Eastern Washington.

Sept. 20, 2008: (Exhibition) - The Huskies took to the road for an Exhibition Game versus the Trinity Western Titans in Langley, BC, and returned home with a much improved outcome from last season's exhibition game. The UW won 3-2 without ever trailing in the game. The Huskies were led by Stephan Sobiek who had 2 goals and played a great game. The Huskies had outstanding goal-tending, with a 3-man rotation in the net and each goaltender playing one period of the game. Will Kelly scored a goal as well.

The Huskies training camp opened Wednesday night (9/17/08). Pictured below is Coach David Kell and several of the players at training camp.

Final cuts will be made after the two exhibition games, and the team will continue preparation for the season opener in Cheney Washington at the new home of the Eastern Washington Eagles, the University Recreation Center. The EWU Hockey Club is certainly a program on the rise; not only do they have a brand new arena, but they also have advanced to the ACHA Division 2 National Tournament for the past two years. It will be a fun atmosphere for everyone. The DAWGS will play EWU again on Saturday and then hit the road to San Jose, California to take on San Diego State, University of Denver, and San Jose State in three tough road games. The Huskies then travel back to Seattle for their home opening weekend against the hated oregon ducks on October 17th and 18th.
